It's not news that the Obama campaign has been a great user of technology up to this point. Last week, at the Democratic National Convention, the campaign used live maps to engage, enable and incite its supporters. We look at what was so special about this use of maps, why it worked and how the basic idea might be used elsewhere.

"By using their own cellular phone, customers can text in the flavor of their pizza and include an approval rating that ranges from 'absolutely like' to 'don't like'. As an additional value add, the marketing technology behind text-enabled service will also alert Pizza Nova customers of pizza sales at their local store locations in the coming months."

This implementation will be at the Toronto International Film Festival. It's not clear how they will assign "home locations" to the voters.
