What about professional certification? (#1)
by David DiBiase, Penn State University

Date: December 2, 2009 20:34 PM
I enjoyed the conversation (especially Adena's erudite paraphrase of Kant ;-) I'm surprised, however, that neither Adena nor Joe mentioned professional certification, even if only to dismiss it. I expect that the more than 5,000 individuals who've demonstrated their qualifications through GISCI and/or ASPRS certification might reasonably claim that their "GISP" or "CMS" designation is the definitive differentiator between amateur and professional.
