Conference Spotlight
Special Exhibits
Seven special exhibits will
be on display during the Map Gallery Opening and Evening Reception on Monday,
5:30 p.m.– 9:00 p.m., and will continue until Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
This week we will highlight the Salton Sea Atlas Special Exhibit and the
NASA Special Display-The View from Space and the USGS Mapping Display-Foundations
for Enterprise GIS
Salton Sea Atlas Special
Exhibit
SDCC, Sail Area, Upper Level
The Salton Sea, located
in California’s southern Mojave Desert, is a nexus of extraordinary social,
political, and elemental forces. The diversity of competing interests in
this unique Southern California ecosystem makes common understanding of
the relationships among the natural environment, cultural context, and
social values of paramount concern. Join ESRI and fellow users at a special
exhibit focusing on the making of the Salton Sea Atlas, a joint publication
of ESRI Press and the University of Redlands. Conference attendees will
have the opportunity to meet the team from the University of Redlands who
created the atlas. Attendees will also be able to purchase the book and
have it autographed by the team on Monday evening. Come and learn the definitive
story of this unique inland sea!
NASA Special Display-The
View from Space
SDCC, Sail Area, Upper Level
We all know NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Agency, as the people
who launch the Space Shuttle and satellites that explore the deep reaches
of space. But NASA is also a leading supplier of digital imagery through
its many programs of earth observation satellites. Come see the very latest
in image acquisition technology from the people who pioneered it! You’ve
never had a view from space like this before, so join the folks at NASA
for a virtual trip to outer space!
USGS Mapping Display-Foundations
for Enterprise GIS
SDCC, 6-A Foyer, Upper Level
The theme for the U.S. Geological
Survey (USGS) Mapping Display is Foundations for Enterprise GIS. Here you
will find an area with both, traditional displays of maps and posters and
computer displays and demonstrations of the very latest in automated mapping,
digital cartography, and spatial database management from the mapping experts!
