Jonathan Rupprecht’s eye-opening presentation, “When is a lawyer needed? Understanding the Legal Issues Surrounding Drones,” illuminated these topics, and many more, for the attendees of this year’s Drones Flying Free virtual conference, an online gathering co-sponsored by the National Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence and Directions Magazine.
As an experienced aviation attorney as well as a certified drone pilot and fight instructor, Rupprecht offered his insights on topics ranging from the roles of a consultant versus an attorney, why hiring a specialist in aviation law is so important, and when you must have an aviation attorney on speed-dial. Rupprecht deftly provided tips on choosing the right attorney, and fielded questions on everything from regulations related to flight instruction to knowing whether or not you are properly registered with the FAA. (It turns out, many of us are not!)
Rupprecht, of Rupprecht Law P.A., is a recognized face among those in the know inside the drone industry. His legal analysis has been showcased by major news networks and publications across the country, and he teaches, as adjunct faculty, at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Rupprecht provides a number of free online resources for drone enthusiasts on his website, including a Part 107 study guide, information on the Part 107 waiver, and what to do after crashing your drone.
