1) Exemplary Curriculum Material

Based on the Geospatial Technology Competency Model (GTCM), our GTCM Aligned Model Course packs provide the new or incumbent geospatial educator with a highly detailed outline of the seven GIS-related courses identified in our model certificate program.  These courses were developed by the top 75 educators across the U.S., using the GTCM as the basis and enhanced by our Meta-DACUM research.  The packs contain syllabi, student learning outcomes, evaluation matrices, sample pre- and post-exams and useful reference material.  Start using the courses for free today.

2) Access to Best Practices

Our clearinghouse contains the latest research in best practices related to building and sustaining a college geospatial academic program.  Need help with ePortfolios, building an industry advisory board, recruiting students, creating internship opportunities?  All these necessary components of a healthy and vital program are available for free from the GeoTech Center.

3) “Go to Advisor” for Help

We get daily requests for advice on everything from “how do I provide remote access to ArcGIS for my online students” to “how can I support my industry advisory board when my budget's been cut.”  With our extensive network of educators, if an answer exists, we can find it.

4) Job and Internship Assistance

Educators are always on the prowl for employment opportunities for their students and graduates.  We partner with leading job search providers, like GeoSearch, to provide our community with the latest opportunities, locally and nationwide.

5) Community of Practice with Fellow Educators

Since 2008 we have been developing our community of two-year GIS educators.  We have the contact information for more than 800 educators at colleges in all 50 states.  Our network of friends and colleagues allows you to become part of our community of practice through face-to-face meetings, virtual webinars and social media exchanges.

6) Recruiting and Retaining Students

The number-one measure of your program's health is the number of students enrolled in your classes.  We can provide you with help in finding and keeping students in your courses, online or on-campus.

7) Marketing Your Program

Did you know we provide free marketing for you nationwide?  Have you checked out the online map database of college GIS programs?  Is your program listed?  Do we have your program banner and information on the bottom of our homepage?

8) Professional Development for Faculty

We provide both campus-based and virtual seminars for professional development.  Want to spend time in Louisville or San Diego this summer learning the latest in GIS technology and best practice pedagogy?  Need a 20-minute update on best practices from the comfort of your home or office?  Did you miss the latest Esri User Conference, but still want access to more than 150 technical sessions?  We have many resources available at our resource center.

9) Assistance in Grant Writing and Development

We have helped dozens of colleges secure external grant funding to support academic programs.  We can assist you in locating resources, developing good ideas and connecting with evaluators and professionals.

10) Connecting You with Employers and Industry

Our list of industry resources can help you develop job and internship opportunities to attract new students to your program.
