The Geospatial Web Services workshop at Centre for Geospatial Science, University of Nottingham held June 16-17th, 2008 had an interesting twist: a live webcast. More than 300 viewers followed the presentations over two days. Organizer Dr. Suchith Anand of the University wants to share the content as he believes "technologies like webcasting and podcasting will help in widening participation of GIS research conferences and events for the benefit of the society at large." The workshops, with with full video and slides or just audio, include titles such as "MapTube: Public Domain GIS, Mapping & Imaging Using Web-based Services," "Architectures for delivering maps empowered by automated generalization and "GIS4EU - Provision of interoperable datasets to open GI to EU," are available via Windows Media Player, Real Player and MP3.
