Ireti Ajala had been practicing GIS professionally for the past six years. His first stint with GIS was with an Environmental Sensitivity Mapping Company in Lagos. He later moved to Nigeria’s first and foremost indigenous vehicle tracking company in Lagos where he helped produce the digital street maps for several cities across Nigeria used as the bedrock for the Automatic Vehicle Locating (AVL) projects.
Ajala joined MTN Nigeria Communication in 2002 as a senior GIS Specialist. MTN Nigeria is a member of MTN Group, Africa’s largest mobile company with more than 18 million subscribers across some seven African countries.
His responsibilities include the sourcing and preparation of spatial datasets to be used in all Radio Frequency Planning & Optimization initiatives, the management and maintenance of the various spatial datasets and GIS analysis for the cellular planners, and other departments like Marketing, Sales & Distribution. Recent projects include proposing and implementing dynamic maps showing network status, Population Density mapping and using GIS to create business optimization models.
Ajala holds an MGIS (Master in GIS) degree and a BSc degree in Land Surveying both from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. |
