Al Butler was one of the originators of the GISP credential, served on the Ethics Committee that developed the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct for the GISP program and its Oversight Committee. He now serves on the GIS Certification Institute's Board of Directors as the representative of the Urban & Regional Information Systems Association, on whose Board of Directors he also serves. After more than 25 years in the public sector, Al now operates his own GIS consulting business out of a base in Orlando, Florida.
