David Din

David Din graduated in marketing and management at the University of Zurich and has received the post-graduate title of a "Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)." He worked for several years for the Swiss bank UBS, his last job being that of a buy-side analyst for all share recommendations of the bank for US technology shares. He then joined Schroders in Switzerland as a member of senior management and was responsible for all private equity investments.

Later he specialized as a partner at the Swiss company Capena Group in supporting start-up companies. As an analyst for technology companies with many years of experience, David Din recognized the potential of the Ladwein Map and joined Richard Ladwein at the end of 2003.

Richard Ladwein, whose research is described in Din's article, is the founder and scientific director of Geoka. He worked as a scientist during the geomorphologic detail mapping of the Federal Republic of Germany at the beginning of the 1980s, and he is the co-author of the book "Regional knowledge: Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland," Munich 1981.

Richard Ladwein has developed the SPIRS procedure for an automated disclosure of areas which are threatened by natural hazards, in research work spanning several years. At the business and innovation competition of the region Saar-Lor-Lux (Germany, France, and Luxembourg), he was the best German participant at the end of 2003 with his Ladwein Maps.

The geomorphologist Richard Ladwein has developed the Ladwein Map in the context of his PhD thesis. However, before handing it in, he decided to commercialize it himself, and he withdrew the thesis.
