Dr. Thomas H. Kolbe

Dr. Thomas H. Kolbe is senior researcher and lecturer at the Institute for Cartography and Geoinformation at the University of Bonn, Germany (since 1999). Before, he worked at the Institute for Environmental Sciences of the University of Vechta (1998-1999) and at the Computer Science Department III of the University of Bonn (1993-1998). His research inter-ests cover 3D GIS, 3D city models, spatial data infrastructures, pedestrian navigation systems, computer vision, and information theory.

Dr. Kolbe is chairman of the GIS Working Group of the German Association for Photogram-metry and Remote Sensing (DGPF). He also chairs the Special Interest Group 3D (SIG 3D) of the initiative Geodata Infrastructure North Rhine-Westphalia (GDI NRW), where he has been working on the development of international standards for interoperable city models and 3D geo-visualisation over the last three years (OGC Web 3D Service and CityGML).
