Jay Parrish

Jay Parrish is Professor of Practice in the Dutton Institute, part of the world campus at Penn State University. He teaches remote sensing online. He was the State Geologist and Director of the Pennsylvania Bureau of Topographic and Geologic Survey under DCNR for 9+ years. He has a Ph.D. in Geophysics from Penn State and has worked as an oil explorationist for Mobil Oil, environmental forensic image analyzer, college professor, volunteer with the Mennonite Church, Ball Aerospace contractor at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and as director of the GIS Department for Lancaster County, PA. He has particular interest in geobotanical remote sensing. He is a licensed Professional Geologist in the state of Pennsylvania. He has been president of PAMAGIC, Chair of PAGIC, Acting State GIS Coordinator, National Geospatial Advisory Committee member and currently a member of NDEP (National Digital Elevation program).
