Jim Aylward

 

Jim Aylward, founder and CEO of GeoTech Advisors, LLC, has over 20 years experience in the geospatial technology industry.  He built and sold his own geotech company, and is an active investor in and advisor to nearly two dozen geotech and technology-based companies.

Jim was co-founder and executive vice president of Harvard Design & Mapping Co., Inc. (HDM), an international leader in the development of geospatial technology and location intelligence products and services. Founded in 1988 and located in Cambridge, MA and Washington, DC, HDM worked with some of the largest corporations and government agencies in the world.  In 2006, Jim and his partner Kija Kim sold HDM to the First American Corporation, a FORTUNE 300 corporation and the largest real estate information company in the world. HDM was named 2006 Small Business of the Year for Massachusetts by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

In 1999, Jim founded and was CEO of SmartCity.com, Inc., an early wireless real estate technology startup bringing enabling technology to the For Sale By Owner (FSBO) market and real estate agents nationwide.  

Jim has designed, managed the technical development of, and launched over a dozen geotech software systems and platforms.  He has four patents pending with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He received a B.A. degree in Political Science from Boston College and a Masters in Public Administration degree from Suffolk University in Boston. He is an alum of M.I.T.’s Greater Boston Executive Program.
