Kevin Flanders is the President of PeopleGIS Inc. He has worked with GIS technologies for 16 years, and consulted for over 14 years. His focus has always been on the end-user, providing applications development and support, program planning and design, and training services to industrial, municipal and public safety officials. Five years ago, Flanders founded PeopleGIS (where people come first....its all about people) in order to pursue GIS consulting the way he felt it should be done. Open source has always been a focus of PeopleGIS, primarily in regards to their Internet mapping platform called MapsOnline.
Flanders received his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Vermont, and later obtained his Masters of Science in Engineering from Cornell University, where he first crossed paths with GIS technology. He has been a GIS person ever since.
Flanders resides in Somerville, Massachusetts with his wife Susan and son Aidan, spending their winters skiing in Maine and their summers fishing on Cape Cod.
