M. Duane Nellis

M. Duane Nellis is currently Dean of the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Geography at West Virginia University (WVU), where he has been since 1997. The Eberly College is the largest academic college at WVU. Nellis is immediate Past President of the Association of American Geographers (AAG). Nellis is also past chair of the Remote Sensing Specialty Group of the AAG and received the groups Outstanding Contributions Award in 1995. The AAG presented Nellis National Honors in 2001. Nellis has research interests in Geographic Information Science and remote sensing applications to rural resource systems. He has published over 100 articles and numerous book and book chapters. His research has been supported by a large number of funding agencies. Nellis received his M.S. and Ph.D. from Oregon State University, and his undergraduate degree from Montana State University.
