Steve Feldman
Trained as an economist, Steven Feldman spent the first 20 years of hisworking life in building materials before stumbling upon GIS. A chance conversation led to him becoming General Manager of GDC and Head of Professional Services at whereonearth.com during the wackiest part of the dot com boom and bust.In 2002 the employees bought out GDC with investment support from nearly all of them. Four years later GDC had grown to be one of the leading suppliers of e-Government solutions to Local Government with a strong reputation for innovation and customer service. MapInfo bought the business in 2007.
After working for MapInfo for 18 months as UK MD and Director of Product and Industry Strategy, EMEA he left to look for his next big thing. The search is ongoing and in the meantime he is working as a strategic consultant and an investor, advisor and mentor to technology startups. He is keen to work with businesses that have societal value and believe they can make an impact.
He is the current chair of the AGI GeoCommunity conference. When not working, he blogs about geo-anything, twitters about geo, politics and community and follows the Arsenal. You can follow him at http://GIScussions.blogspot.com and http://twitter.com/StevenFeldman
