Steven Gordon

Steven Gordon is President of Cartagram, LLC, a custom mapmaking company located in Madison, Alabama. Gordon graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Geography. From that point, he began freelancing maps and graphic design. In 1987 Gordon joined Intergraph, working as a Senior Systems Engineer until leaving the company in 1997 to found Cartagram. While starting up his business, he contributed several artistically designed maps to books published about Adobe Illustrator software, which culminated in his coauthorship of the Illustrator Wow! Books (Peachpit Press) in 2000. He is a contributor to the Photoshop and Painter Wow! Books as well. Closely linked with his professional writing, Gordon beta-tests major vector and raster desktop software.

Gordon has three children who have served as recreational companions, rescue subjects, and object lessons in not trying to train children to perform cartographic operations. When not running Cartagram, he finds time to navigate the seemingly alpine terrain of nearby suburban neighborhoods with a Trek mountain bike.
