Vincent Tao, Ph.D.

Dr. Vincent Tao holds a Canada Research Chair Professorship in Geomatics and Computer Science. He is currently Director of Geospatial Information and Communication Technology (GeoICT) Lab at York University, Toronto. Dr. Tao is internationally recognized as an innovator in image-based mapping, and distributed spatial visualization. He performed the pioneering work on universal sensor models and spatial sensor web for ubiquitous data acquisition and visualization. Dr. Tao has published more than 150 papers for journals and proceedings. He serves as Editorial Board Member for five international journals. He is Chair of the ASPRS softcopy Photogrammetry committee, Chair of the ISPRS WG I.3 on Advanced Sensing, a Board Director of the Urban Regional Information Systems Association's Ontario Chapter, and a Board member of the Canadian Certification Program for remote sensing and mapping scientists, and US Remote Sensing Model Curriculum, and etc many executive positions. His achievement has been recognized by over two dozens awards and distinctions nationally and internationally.
