Understanding MapInfo: A Structured Guide

Purchase this book on Amazon.com

This book is based on many years experience as a MapInfo user and educator. I started writing it because I found myself teaching other users the same material over and over, as they were unable to bridge the gap between what they wanted to DO and the documentation provided in the manuals.

My aim is to provide a rapid introduction to the use of MapInfo, shortcutting the process of personal discovery and packing as much information as possible into a readable format. I emphasise understanding the way the software really works, so that the reader can extend the ideas to new situations or work out what is going wrong. I have also packed in many handy tips and tricks to get real productivity. MapInfo Corp. may not always like it, but I tell it as I see it, trying to anticipate problems you may experience with the software and documenting solutions.
