Product Developer (Intermap Technologies | Strategic Business Development)

Intermap Technologies is a company with the commercial capacity to meet world demand for highly-accurate, low-cost digital elevation models. These include digital surface models and digital terrain models, as well as cartographic products vital to producing accurate base maps that drive a proliferation of GIS, GPS and 3D visualization applications.

Working for governments and private industry worldwide, Intermap collects data with its airborne interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR). These systems, mounted on airborne platforms, enable the Company to map large areas accurately, quickly and in overcast or dark conditions. We generate our products in highly automated facilities in Munich; Denver, Calgary, Ottawa and Jakarta. Thanks to our new business model, NEXTMap®, mapping entire countries, the company is currently in a state of rapid development while remapping the world! Intermap is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Product Developer. This position is based in Intermap’s Calgary, AB office and requires occasional domestic and international travel to customer and 0ther Intermap facilities.

Job Description Summary:

This position is responsible for development of proof of concept software for image feature extraction and image visualization based on requirements discovered on an iterative basis by the Product Development team. Success is measured by the innovation, creativity and speed in which this software can be developed. This position reports to the Product Development Manager.

Product Development is a team effort with the application engineer working with:
• The Product Development Manager, who maintains the schedule and organization of the programs
• The Customer Program Manager, who is the primary interface with the customer, a strong relationship with the CPM will be required both for understanding of needs and in support of customer discovery meetings.
• The Applications Engineering team, developers and technicians involved in product development efforts

The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, physics or a related technical filed and at least 5 years experience in software development.

Experience in C#, C++ and Matlab are required.

Any experience with spatial databases and geographic information systems or data compression and presentation algorithms will be considered an asset. Experience in any visualization industry will be a significant asset.
