Job Description

The position is for a Software Quality Assurance Manager with a passion and commitment to develop quality software through software quality assurance best practices. The candidate should have experience in managing a 7 - 10 person team, both local and remote QA teams. The candidate should be experienced in designing and implementing a QA strategy that utilizes black box(GUI), grey box(API) and white box(code coverage analysis), manual and automated testing methods for client/server distributed/multi-tier applications and web based enterprise based solutions. The candidate should have and in-depth understanding of existing QA methodologies to implement and maintain a coherent, progressive QA strategy for our Autodesk Map 3D and other ISD division based products. In a management role the candidate will be responsible for guiding and ensuring the execution & monitoring of seasonal product related activities. Ensures the ability to measure the quality of product deliverables and communicate the results of the analysis on time and within budget. Mentors QA engineers and ensures they have effective support to rapidly grow their capabilities. Participates in root cause analysis for defects/design issues and provides process improvement suggestions to eliminate future occurrences of similar defects/issue. Participates in the inspection process for all types of project deliverables, including code review. Quickly and effectively assesses the true customer impact for customer reported problems. Supports mindset change and will embed Process Excellence at all aspects of the QA process.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage the effort to design, implement, execute and maintain black box, grey box, white box and automated test strategies for new and existing Autodesk ISD division based products.

Manage the effort to develop, implement and maintain the Automation infrastructure, framework and scripts for both GUI and API level requirements.

Manage the effort to develop, execute and maintain software test designs and test suites which include both GUI and API level tests(C##, .Net, C++)

Communicates on QA progress and status on a project basis and during non seasonal release activities.

Managing and maintains project schedules in MSProject

Monitor defects in database for tracking and reporting.

Develop an in-depth, detailed understanding of ISD division product line and architecture in order to provide effective test strategy

Manage and lead the effort in design and code coverage analysis tools to evaluate and improve efficiency and coverage of product test strategy

Work closely with remote Quality Assurance teams to mentor, monitor and report code coverage matrices and product testing status.

Support developers in applying debugging tools to assist in early detection of defects/design issues.

Job Requirements

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, GIS or equivalent experience.

Minimum 6 - 8 years Management experience including management of a 7 - 10 person team

Minimum 8 - 10 years experience in Software Quality Assurance with a proven track record in developing and implementing a successful quality strategy for Desktop and Client/Server/Web based Enterprise based software and solutions.

Experience in developing and implementing API level test strategy

Strong background in Software Engineering and Quality Assurance techniques, process, practices and methodologies.

Strong understanding of the Internet (HTTP, HTML, XML)

Experienced with automated system & performance tools, such as Silk, , WinRunner, or Rational Robot.

Solid understanding of application server technology such as (Oracle Enterprise Server, Windows Application Server 200X

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required

Desired Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of GIS domain software such as Autodesk Map, Autodesk Map Guide, MapInfo, ArcGIS, Geomedia Server, SmallWorld or Vision

Knowledge of AutoCAD based applications
