The successful candidate will be responsible for the gathering, analyzing and prioritizing of business and functional requirements. This will be used to facilitate the development of new systems or technical solutions for a business issue.
This position will work with a variety of stakeholders to make our product more intuitive, simple, and powerful. Responsibilities:
* Identification and collection of business requirements via interviews, group sessions, studies, independent research and feedback on current system functionality
* Planning and analysis of business requirements through the implementation of a traceability matrix
* Develop clear, consistent and concise business requirements documentation without any ambiguities
* Document / translate complex business requirements into functional and technical requirements and processes
* Validate and verify the tracking of business requirements throughout the development of the solution
* Interface with QA and provide testing support as needed
* Track changes in business requirements that occur during the project lifecycle and also once the system is operational
* Maintains proficiency in Business Analysis best practices and recommends improvements
* Establish standards for and develop software/vendor comparison analyses to expand inventory of recommended solutions
* Stays current with technology trends and makes recommendations as needed
Job Requirements
* Communications – must be able to speak in 2 languages: computers and business. Be the translator between the 2 communities
* Excellent analytical skills – detailed oriented and take the time to understand each problem
* Posses technical computer knowledge, complex modeling techniques and engineering systems concepts and principles
* Knowledge of business processes, strategies, concepts and principles of a professional IT organization
* Demonstrates ability to express and organize thoughts, ideas and information in a logical and concise manner both verbally and in writing
* Facilitates meetings of peers and project team members, clearly articulates the issues at hand, enables discussion that leads toward resolution, and communicates results to management
* Knowledge of developing Use Cases, UML artifacts and Class diagrams is a must
* Plays a supporting role on presentations to higher levels of management
* Extensive knowledge in software design, development, integration and testing methodologies specific to GIS and .NET based applications
* Excellent verbal and written skills, team working and negotiation skills
Required Experience:
* 5+ years of Business Analysis experience with strong knowledge of GIS tools and industry
* BS or MS in engineering or computer science or equivalent experience
