Application and user technical support for geospatial information systems (GIS). Development and maintenance of validation routines, quality control and database integrity utilities to manage and enforce standards and conventions. Design and development or oversight of outsourced development of application upgrades, customizations, and feature extensions of licensed software. Application level technical and user support for all GE Smallworld based GIS applications. Application level technical and user support for periphery applications including mobilized GIS applications, Web enabled mapping applications, plot repositories, geospatial alarm viewers, and MapInfo based integration and products.
Develops and maintains programs, utilities, and applications necessary to manage and maintain the accuracy and integrity of the data managed within the GIS applications. Coordination and oversight of data integrity management programs with each functional engineering discipline representing both market and headquarters organizations. Technical support for outsourced and offshore drafting programs including oversight of data integrity and quality management programs, tools and utility development, change management, data synchronization, and exception handling routines.
Primary Tier 2 support responsibility for application and data related issues in the GIS applications. Performs analysis of change requests, trouble reports, data conversion fallout, and modeling issues and recommends solutions. Develops solutions or provides oversight to third party developers. Coordinates and supports testing and quality control activities, providing application technical support and subject matter expertise as required.
Job Requirements
B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
· 5 years development experience in a GIS environment,
· 2 years experience in an object oriented development environment.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft development technologies, preferably .NET. Detailed knowledge of the GE Smallworld PNI application product suite.
· Experience with Oracle Spatial a plus.
· Previous experience with the design, configuration, and administration of a GE Smallworld application environment.
· Proven experience with Web-GIS technologies, GE Smallworld SOMs, FME, and large datasets.
· Working knowledge of land base data management. Solid grasp of professional coding practices.
· Familiarity with telecommunications network architectures, equipment, and transport infrastructure.
· Detailed knowledge of outside plant modeling and tracking in GIS applications. Requires the ability to function with limited supervision and requires the ability to effectively communicate with and support design engineering teams that represent the primary users of the GIS applications.
