Job Description

NAVTEQ is the leading provider of digital map data for Vehicle Navigation, Internet & Wireless applications and Business Solutions. Cutting edge applications such as these are part of a growing set of applications that enhance consumer's access to information while they are mobile. We have coined the term informed mobility' to represent this emerging need.

NAVTEQ data is used in virtually all of the leading navigation systems in both North America and Europe. Our customers rely on NAVTEQ digital map information for use in their applications based on its accuracy, detail and completeness.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular reviews of our vehicle fleet and field data collection systems to ensure NAVTEQ receives maximum benefit from our fleet and technology investment
• Manage the daily activities of Field Technicians who are responsible for direct support of data collection tools and equipment deployed for field data collection
• Work with Emerging Technologies to ensure a smooth transition from testing and prototyping of new systems to successful deployment to the field
• Continuously survey the marketplace to understand the trends in cameras, computers, IMUs, GPSs, and other equipment
• Evaluate quality, performance, warranties, service levels, and equipment reliability statistics to assure that proposed equipment, systems, and suppliers meet our requirements and specifications
• Work with procurement to provide technical details for requests for information and requests for proposal

Job Requirements

Requirements:

• Education: degree in computer science and/or automotive/avionics electronics or degree in Geography or Geographic Information Systems along with relevant technical experience
• Work Experience: Five-plus years working with installed and after-market avionics or automotive systems; experience with in-car computers a plus
• Experience in managing vehicles and aftermarket up fitting of technically advanced vehicle fleets
• Electronic diagnosis and troubleshooting ability, and grounding in computer hardware and software
• Experience in supporting field organizations using advanced equipment and systems
• Understanding of field data collection requirements and ability to recommend workarounds during equipment problems
• Knowledge of vendors and current/emerging technologies
• Excellent written and verbal communication and the ability to work effectively with business customers
