GENERAL SUMMARY: Responsible for production and editing of digital topographic and planimetric detail, data bases, GIS layers, tabular data, orthophotography, and files translation as required in the development of various digital map products.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS:
* Perform editing, quality control and data manipulation functions to digital map data from various sources.
* Apply advanced digital cartographic and/or GIS principles in all efforts.
* Write digital media for internal and external clients.
* Send data to plotters to create hardcopy outputs for internal and external clients.
* Follow instructions for specific projects and the guidance provided by designated Project Leader or Project Manager.
* Adhere to Quality Control protocols as directed.
* Play a key role relating to quality control and/or project leadership as assigned.
* Train and direct of specific staff members as assigned.
* Conduct or contribute in system preparation, project layout and design activities.
* Gather and compile metadata for specific projects/deliverables as required.
* Ensure digital media and related source materials are archived and properly stored.
* Communicate all production related concerns and inquiries to the Geospatial Services Manager or designated Technical Lead.
* Other technical contributions will include some or all of the following:
** GIS data creation, editing and quality control.
** AML and related script development and applications.
** Process digital images for geospatial applications.
** Develop, quality check and edit digital orthophotography.
** Develop and edit topographic maps using DTM from various sources.
** Update and correct existing GIS base maps using data compiled from new imagery.
** Digital cartographic editing of planimetric and topographic features.
** Data conversion and translation.

Job Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIRED:
* Post secondary training in Geography, Cartography, GIS, Drafting, Photogrammetry, Imagery Analysis, Survey, or Civil Engineering.
* Six years experience may substitute for post secondary training.
* Technical expertise in the areas of digital cartography, or related areas such as GIS, photogrammetry, surveying, drafting or civil engineering.
* Experience with some of the following software packages: the ESRI Arc/GIS Suite, MicroStation, Intergraph, AutoCAD and related third-party software.
* General understanding of commonly used coordinate systems, projections and datums.
* Four years digital mapping, GIS or CAD experience.
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Post secondary training in Geography, Cartography, Photogrammetry, Imagery Analysis, GIS, Survey, or Civil Engineering preferred
