Job Description

I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) (www.imsg.com) has a one-year internship opportunity supporting our contract with the NOAA Coastal Service Center (CSC) (www.csc.noaa.gov), a federal facility located in Charleston, SC. This position will work closely with NOAA’s National Ocean Service (NOS) on various NOAA-wide Geographic Information Systems (GIS) projects and activities and participate in a new GIS pilot project to develop an online data discovery and delivery system for NOAA’s Southeast and Caribbean Regional Team (SECART).

Duties

• Compiling and organizing GIS data and metadata from across NOAA offices
• Participate in NOS and NOAA geospatial work groups, teams and committees as necessary
• Work with Coastal Services Center staff on geospatial tasks and participate in meetings and conference calls
• Load data into ESRI’s Spatial Data Engine (SDE), assure quality FGDC metadata compliance and perform system testing

Job Requirements

Qualifications

• GIS experience, preferable with ESRI software
• Experience with GIS data development, analysis and/or metadata documentation
• Organization and attention to detail
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
