Description of Position:
The GIS Application Developer is a technical position that demands an extensive background in information technology and web application development. GIS experience and interest is helpful. Most client applications are developed in the .NET environment.
The Application Developer will be responsible for the following:
•Define application requirements and oversee and develop custom GIS applications.
•Develop, analyze and manipulate relational databases.
•Project management and communication with clients and Farallon management
The Application Developer must have the following minimum qualifications:
•Four-year college degree (or equivalent experience) in geography, mathematics, engineering, computer Science, or a related field.
•2 years experience developing web applications in .NET and/or Java.
•Experience with relational database management systems, operations, and applications (Oracle, Microsoft Access and SQL).
•Excellent working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming using .NET, Java, Visual Basic and/or Visual Basic for Applications.
•Knowledge of related web programming languages and components including JAVA/JavaScript, HTML, XML and DOM.
•Strong organizational and personal communication skills.
Knowledge of and interest in current GIS hardware/software technologies and uses a plus.
