GeoSpatial Analytics Faculty Position

The Center for Information Systems and Technology (CISAT) ( at Claremont Graduate University (CGU) invites nominations and applications for a faculty member (rank open, 3-year renewable term appointment, non-tenure) specializing in Geospatial Analytics. The appointment will commence in September 2014 or January 2015.

Job Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctoral degree; a strong record that blends GIS scholarship and field performance; interest in diverse teaching approaches, students, and populations; the ability to work with experienced decision-makers in GIS and location analytics; and specific technical knowledge of core GIS software and platforms (especially ArcGIS). The successful candidate also will demonstrate experience and/or capacity for advising a diverse student body.

Preference will be given to candidates whose teaching, research, and field interests focus on innovative use of geographic information systems (GIS) in areas such as business, health, community development, and environment. Knowledge of Location Analytics, Big Data and/or Business Intelligence platforms is a plus, as is applied experience in devising and implementing GIS and location analytic solutions.

The position will include responsibility for teaching graduate courses in the CISATs GIS Concentration (see and related courses in CISATs masters and PhD programs, conducting applied research through CISATs Advanced GIS Lab, and participating in CGUs university-wide GIS and Big Data initiatives.  The holder of the position is also expected to be active in CGUs ongoing partnership with Esri, which includes CISATs Esri Development Center (EDC). Depending on research interests, an opportunity exists for the faculty member to interface with other CGU programs and schools in the areas of management, social sciences, public policy, and education.
