The goal of Teaching Using Spatial Analysis 101 is to provide confidence, skills, and the spatial perspective necessary to foster spatial analysis in geography, earth and biological sciences, history, mathematics, computer science, and in other disciplines.
It will accomplish this through a series of hands-on activities where participants investigate a series of fascinating issues relevant to the 21st Century, including population, natural hazards, energy, water, current events, sustainable agriculture, and more. These activities will be supplemented by short readings and reflections that will build a community of educators focused on the value of investigating the world through a spatial perspective.
Students who are ultimately impacted by what the educators will learn through this course will benefit through key career and critical thinking skills in data management, inquiry, multimedia, and geospatial technologies.

Fayetteville State University (FSU) is pleased to announce that it has received a five-year $443,000 research grant from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to support the development of a Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) certificate to be offered to students pursuing undergraduate degrees in Geography, Computer Science, and Intelligence Studies at FSU.

Joseph K. Berry, well-known for his long running column in GIS World/GeoWorld, will be giving a seminar on SpatialSTEM at Colorado State University. it acts as an introduction for a short course on the same topic. It's unclear to me if there is a cost for university faculty (or others) for the short course. The seminar and short course are in person, not online.
This 50-minute seminar, held at 4 p.m. Aug. 29, will provide an overview of using the SpatialSTEM approach for teaching spatial reasoning, map analysis and modeling fundamentals within a mathematical/statistical framework that resonates with STEM communities.
A follow-up short course will be offered (Sept. 7, 12 and 14; 1-3 p.m.) that will focus on infusing Spatial Analysis and Statistics into college-level teaching and research.
