deCarta Pre-empts Google Pre-empts Apple?

Wednesday, June 6th 2012
By Adena Schutzberg

It's hard to say if in fact deCarta was trying to jump ahead of Google's mapping announcements today, since its "article" has no date. Today both  Search Engine Land and WebProNews wrote about how deCarta is taking advantage of "Google Maps Still Bleeding Developers, Businesses‎."

deCarta documents its many new users (not necessarily customers as WebProNews suggests) and from what platforms they came:

In the last 90 days, we have had 488 new companies sign up on the deCarta DevZone and start working with our offerings.

Over half of the developers checking out our mapping platform listed the Google Maps API as their most recent map supplier; that’s about three new app developers per day coming to our DevZone from Google alone.

Do we all recall that deCarta (Telcontar) once powered Google Maps?
