The Charles Lea Center Reduces Fuel Costs by 15 Percent with NexTraq Fleet Tracking

Private non-profit organization supporting people with mental and physical disabilities uses GPS fleet tracking to reduce costs and ensure driver safety

Atlanta – July 18, 2012 – NexTraq, the value leader of GPS fleet tracking and vehicle management solutions, announced today that its client, The Charles Lea Center has reduced fuel costs by 15 percent with the NexTraq™ Fleet Tracking platform while improving driver safety and reducing its insurance premiums.

The Charles Lea Center manages a residential program with more than 60 community training homes, provides clients with a day program, engages them in a Workability program to help them work for other organizations and arranges for groups to visit a business for vocational training. With up to four residents per home, various activities scheduled, and a demanding transit schedule for day participants, Al Hill, Associate Executive Director of The Charles Lea Center needed a way to simplify the organization’s logistics.

Hill said, “As a non-profit organization, we operate on a limited budget. We had a checklist of functionality of what we needed, narrowed it down and selected the NexTraq GPS Fleet Tracking due to ease-of-use and implementation.”

In the first year of analysis, Hill saw significant results. Hill notes a 15 percent reduction in fuel costs by monitoring miles driven on each vehicle as well as making sure the vehicles were where they were supposed to be.

The Charles Lea Center also used extensive reporting capabilities to automate maintenance to ensure timely service as well as to dispute accident claims. Hill said, “When we implemented the NexTraq Fleet Tracking platform, we received a discount on our insurance premiums. We can use reports to dispute false accident claims and actually have done so and won the cases.”

Mike Scarbrough, CEO of NexTraq, states, “It’s deeply gratifying to know that the technology we offer our clients can be used to help others. What can often be seen as a purely logistical and cost-saving tool is also a catalyst to help people whether it’s in a wonderful organization like The Charles Lea Center or in emergency situations. Like most technology, GPS fleet tracking has a human factor.”

At its heart, The Charles Lea Center’s activities can all be attributed to its major tenant: to serve others. Hill states, “We believe technology is the way to serve the most people at the least cost. Keeping our vehicles on the road means that we hold up our promise to the disabled people depending on us.”
