MySQL Updates Spatial Index

It's not often you hear much about the spatial features in MySQL but they are being improved, at least a little. In an announcement today, Oracle released information about MySQL 5.7 with one small mention that the "new MySQL 5.7 features includes GIS improvements including spatial index support in InnoDB, as well as improved accuracy and performance."
