Reminder: Watch Landsat 8 Launch Today at 1:02 pm EST

NASA, with partner, USGS will launch Landsat 8, the next earth-observing satellite from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on February 11 at 1:02 pm eastern. Its current name is the Landsat Data Continuity Mission (LDCM) but after three months in space it will have the cooler and friendlier name Landsat 8.

NASA TV will offer launch coverage starting with the countdown begining at 10:15 a.m. EST (7:15 a.m. PST). Liftoff is targeted for 1:02 p.m. EST (10:02 a.m. PST).

Live countdown coverage will also be available online.
