Overview

Running on any networked host computer (in the same way as a standard Web server), the OGDI Server and Adapters combination permits the distribution, in real time, of geospatial data sets on networks obligatorily using TCP/IP protocols. Whereas the Web server responds to the HTTP requests, the OGDI Server listens for and responds to requests executed according to the Geographic Library Transfer Protocol (GLTP) developed by Global Geomatics. After receiving the requests, OGDI Servers automatically and autonomously perform most of the difficult geospatial data integration tasks that had been, until now, done by GIS users.
