Overview
GeoMedia Web Map publishes smart, vector-based maps in an open
ActiveCGM format. Individual vectors representing rivers, roads, boundaries,
or other points can be hyperlinked, allowing them to be activated when
selected by the user. The amount of data sent over the Web is three to four
times less than the amount of raster data needed for equivalent resolution,
so you get faster response times and greater productivity. Users can zoom in
and out, or use a built-in magnifier to read small text and features. This
means fewer data downloads and more efficient use of server resources. At
the same time, the user can see much more detail than in the normal raster
images. The ActiveCGM format is an extension of the ISO and ANSI standard
CGM data format. It permits the inclusion of both vector and raster data.
For data access, GeoMedia Web Map utilizes the same data server technology found in GeoMedia so the same data formats can be accessed in an internet environment. GeoMedia Web Map runs on Windows NT* Server.
