5/10/04 - Marion County, OR selects Mercury to conduct an assessment of the County’s light duty fleet maintenance operation. The study will include an evaluation of fleet maintenance services with specific emphasis on benchmarking performance, evaluating the fleet size and composition and assessing the County’s vehicle replacement program.
5/3/04 - City of Tacoma, WA taps Mercury Associates to conduct cost-benefit analysis of its police vehicle take-home program.
4/30/04 - Mercury selected by the City of Dearborn, Michigan to facilitate the establishment of a Vehicle and Equipment Advisory Board to develop citywide fleet policies, implement best management practices, and to advise the Mayor on methods to lower fleet operating costs.
4/23/04 - SERVICE AWARD: Chris Amos, CAFM, receives NAFA's highest honor for his 20 years of contributions to the fleet management profession. Chris is the Commissioner of Equipment Services for the City of St. Louis and a Senior Associate with Mercury.
4/12/04 – Mercury selected by Transportation Concepts to audit bus maintenance practices for its division that provides contract services to Omitrans. Omnitrans is the public transit agency serving 15 cities and unincorporated areas of San Bernardino County in Southern California.
3/29/04 - City of San Antonio retains Mercury to review fleet replacement planning, rate development, and fund management practices for its $24 million-per-year vehicle and equipment replacement program.
2/25/04 – Mercury selected by Genesee County, MI to review the efficiency and effectiveness of the County’s Motor Pool operations. The motor pool consists of 225 vehicles and pieces of equipment.
2/5/04 - Mercury awarded contract with the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority to benchmark component rebuilding and heavy maintenance costs for its fleet of 2,400 buses. LA MTA is one of the largest transit operations in the United States.
1/22/04 - State of Oregon selects Mercury to perform management review and competitiveness assessment of its state-wide fleet of 7,500 vehicles and pieces of equipment.
1/22/04 - NISH extends contract with Mercury to provide fleet maintenance consulting services at Fort Lewis, WA US Army base and to develop strategic business plan for nationwide initiative to provide fleet management and maintenance services for federal DoD and civilian agencies.
1/8/2004 - The University of Alabama retains Mercury to assess the feasibility of outsourcing its maintenance and motor pool services and analyze vehicle leasing options.
12/11/03 - Mercury awarded contract with Ventura County, California to conduct a comprehensive review of the County's 1,350 vehicle and equipment operation and fleet management program. The focus of the review is on benchmarking the program against industry best practices, conducting a competitiveness assessment of its costs and service levels, and reviewing its cost charge-back methodology.
12/11/03 - Mercury signs contract with the City of Reno, Nevada to provide a cost of services analysis for its fleet of 700 vehicles. The project entails determining the city's cost for providing various fleet services and benchmarking these costs against other best in class fleet operations.
12/02/03 - City of Philadelphia retains Mercury to evaluate replacement financing options for its 6,000 - unit fleet. Mercury will develop a detailed 20 year financial plan that indicates when vehicles and equipment should be replaced and the cost associated with their replacement. The plan will also present the City with different replacement funding options (i.e. lease - purchase, reserve fund, and cash).
11/24/03 - Mercury wins contract with the Virginia Department of Transportation to assist with fleet maintenance managed competition. The consulting firm will assist the employee group to determine their current cost of operations, develop their most efficient organization, and prepare a response to the State's managed competition RFP. VDOT owns 30,000 pieces of equipment which are maintained at 85 repair facilities around the State.
