SEPL-LS: Longitudinal Section Drawings & Estimation Software


Overview

LS MODULE™ is a unique software that enables the user to get a plot of the LS (longitudinal section) of the road or pipeline layout within a few seconds after getting nominal inputs required for the plot from the user. The plot is automatically generated in AutoCAD® including minute details of paper-size, northline, title block etc. Also, the reports generated from LS MODULE™ are in HTML and rich in all respects. To start with, the user has to create a new project. 'Masters' in the LS MODULE™ is nothing but a library of soils, pipes, units and legends. The user can prepare these masters as per the requirement of his/her project. The information from these libraries can be further used in trench information, pipeline layout, bearing information and geographical data of LS MODULE™.

GEOGRAPHICAL DATA
When a new project is defined, to proceed with its details, the grids and bearings of that project have to be kept ready. In 'Geographical Data', you can select the input type as either Grid or Interval. Also, select the type of data input i.e whether X,Y,Z type or X,Z type. In the prior one there would be three values each for X ,Y and the Z direction and the Y unit columns would remain disabled. For the next there would be only two values to be entered. Then suitably enter the X and Y units. The X and Y extent have to be given for which chainages have to be recorded. In case of grid type entry, the X and Y grids have to be entered. In case of interval type entry, the X and Y intervals have to be entered.

BEARING INFORMATION
Here, the user can enter the bearing information for the project defined by him. The chain distance can be selected from this window for which bearing have to be entered. Then, specify the angle of the selected chain with respect to the North Line. The angle should carry any valid value between 0 and 360 degrees.

PIPELINE LAYOUT
On the screen of pipeline layout, the user can enter the details of a pipeline to be laid. Details such as GL,IL, slope, pressure, type of pipe etc. can be recorded in the pipe layout screen. On field, there are several geographical and other factors that may necessitate a change in the slope of the pipe, or there may occur a pressure difference or the ground level may change. At these particular distances, where there is a pressure change at particular point say due to a booster pump or there are two inverted levels at a single point (say one at the inlet point of the pump and other at the outlet point of the pump in case of a continuous pipe layout) that ultimately are responsible for change in the slope, all the other related terminology has to be maintained by taking that particular distance as a mark where there is such kind of change. To account for, or to have an information of readings where such type of changes occur, the information requested on the screen of pipeline layout has to be maintained by the user by making use of the information stored earlier in the pipes master; as a reference for him to check the details of the plot generated from LS MODULE™

TRENCH INFORMATION
At particular distances in a pipeline layout, while excavation is going on, there may be occurrences of different stratas of soil/rock for different depths of excavation. These details of trench depth, no. of stratas while excavation, thickness of each stratum can be maintained in the 'Trench Information' of LS MODULE™ making use of the information stored earlier in the trench master. The data required for the plot of LS (i.e. the grid information) can be stored in the field books of LS MODULE™. After all the data is available, a plot of the LS will be ready to be generated in AutoCAD® Before plotting, the user can include the required legends and the details of the title block can also be set. Finally, by clicking the 'PLOT' button on the screen that is evoked by clicking the 'LS Information' menu, The executable file of AutoCAD will get evoked and the user can see for himself the plot of his readings being plotted automatically with all the details specified by him.
