Applied Geographic Solutions,Inc.(AGS)

AGS is a leading provider of premium quality demographic and marketing data.

The central component in reliable market research is the quality of your demographic data.

If you choose the wrong data provider, you risk making inaccurate market decisions.

But if you choose the right data provider, you'll quickly make the most intelligent
business decisions in your target markets.

That's why a growing number of companies are relying on AGS' demographic data for a wide range of market applications - including conducting site selection evaluations, identifying new business opportunities, and targeting consumers for advertising and direct marketing campaigns.

AGS has a unique business philosophy. It is grounded in the belief that to achieve the most intelligent market decisions, business leaders must have the opportunity to gain several important data advantages including:

    • Market data created with superior data sources and proven methodologies.
    • Direct access to data experts who can answer your critical questions.
    • The highest level of fair-market data value.

AGS' innovative approach was conceived by a true industry pioneer. AGS' president Gary Menger was among the first in a handful of researchers in North America to apply scientific methodologies to market data. Today he is providing the industry's highest quality, most reliable, and most cost-effective data to the marketplace through a nationwide network of application and consulting Partners. Now AGS data can also be found in Microsoft’s MapPoint 2004.

    AGS Databases
AGS delivers an extensive range of the highest quality demographic data products and lifestyle segmentation system, MosaicTM. All databases are derived from superior source data and the most sophisticated, refined, and proven methodologies. Plus, unlike other providers' databases, which are frequently available only at county or zip code levels, the majority of AGS data is available down to block group levels.

    Census Data
AGS has processed and makes available the vast majority of data from the 2000 Census and has retained a core variable set from the 1990, 1980 and 1970 Census.

The 2000 Census SF1 and SF3 databases including base population counts, income information, educational achievement and employment information have been incorporated into the current year estimates

    Estimates and Projections
The estimates and projections database includes a wide range of core demographic variables for the current year and for both 5- year projections, covering five broad topic areas: population, households, income, labor force, and dwellings. With a foundation of the Experian household-level databases and over fifteen years of experience in demographic forecasting, AGS offers the highest quality demographic estimates in the marketplace today.

The 2003 estimates and projections series makes use of the extensive base Census information from the 2000 Census, both the SF1 and the SF3 release.

    Consumer Expenditures (CEX)
AGS provides current year and projected expenditures for over 390 individual categories that collectively cover almost 95% of household spending. Based on extensive modeling of the BLS Consumer Expenditure Survey, CEX provides reliable estimates of market demand and average household expenditures.

    Mediamark (MRI) Consumer Behavior
The consumer behavior database consists of over seventeen hundred individual variables from the latest Mediamark (MRI) double-base survey. Linked to block groups using MOSAIC, this database provides a wealth of information on the preferences and activities of the households in every block group in the country.

    Insource Consumer Profiles
This series of variables are presented as relative indexes, derived from an analysis of the Experian BehaviorBank and Automotive databases using the Mosaic classification system. Included in this database are a number of variables related to direct marketing responsiveness.

    BusinessCounts Daytime Population
BusinessCounts is a geographic summary database of business establishments, employment, and occupation, The core BusinessCounts data, which now utilizes the industry standard InfoUSA database as its primary source data, includes data to the major SIC group with detailed establishment types.

Assets & Debts / Net Worth
This database provides an important look at the financial health of households - including information on the nature and value of both the assets and debts of households, and of the net worth of households. This database is based upon recent surveys of consumer finances undertaken by the Census Bureau, supplemented by statistical modeling in order to provide geographic estimates.

    CrimeRisk
CrimeRisk is the result of an extensive analysis of over seven years of FBI crime statistics. Based on detailed modeling of the relationships between crime and demographics, CrimeRisk provides an accurate view of the relative risk of specific crime types at the block group level.

    WeatherRisk and QuakeRisk
Many businesses are subject to severe loss because of natural hazards. Using historical records of various weather and earthquake phenomena, these databases provide risk assessment staff with accurate and detailed indexes of relative risk for each hazard type.

    Climate
The AGS climate database includes temperature, precipitation, degree-days, and air quality measures. Unlike other databases that are to a county level only, the AGS Climate database provides details to the block group level. Derived from an extensive analysis of historical climatology data, this database provides a detailed view of local climate, which is vital in merchandising analysis.

    MOSAIC™ Segmentation
MOSAIC is Experian's multi-national geodemographic segmentation system, available in over twenty countries worldwide. AGS demographics are an integral part of the MOSAIC system within the United States. MOSAIC licenses include a profiling tool authored by AGS and now available in several countries.

    Retail Potential
This new tabulation utilizes the 1997 Census of Retail Trade tables which cross-tabulates store type by merchandise line. The Consumer Expenditure data was aggregated to the merchandise line classification and then distributed to each of the major store types. The store type classification is based on the NAICS definitions.

    Computer Ownership and Internet Usage
This database estimates the characteristics of computer ownership, Internet usage, and the reasons why households with computers do not use the Internet.

    Demographic Dimensions
This innovative database consists of sixteen core "dimensions" of neighborhoods, such as "Affluence" and "Growth And Stability" which together account for the primary differences between neighborhoods. Based on an extensive statistical analysis of over seven hundred separate demographic attributes, this database is highly useful for undertaking statistical modeling, as each of the variables is essentially uncorrelated to the others.
