Nintendo revealed an odd addition to the Wii U Wednesday by showing off a Google Maps app complete with Street View for the system.
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata demonstrated the app during a Nintendo Direct video conference, tinkering around with Street View displayed on the GamePad's screen while a TV showed an overhead map view.
Users control the map via the GamePad's accelerometer. Moving the controller 360 degrees they can see in every direction on StreetView. The demo is thought to help highlight the new Panorama View offering coming this spring. It's not clear if the maps app will be free or paid.
My publisher Jane is very excited about Instant Google Street View. You key in an address and as you type it finds the best match, until you have the full address in and hopefully, the image you seek. Then you can share it via social media.
