Esri Announces Student Participants in EdUC Plenary and other Education GIS News

Esri requested that students interested in telling their stories at this year's Education GIS User Conference submit videos. The team has selected five students who will attend the event and participate in a plenary. Other students, who were not selected, will be represented by their videos. The student participants and links to their videos are below.

A geographic information systems cooperative at Salisbury University has been contracted to establish a pilot, security program for an American university operating in the Middle East, a first overseas project for the Eastern Shore Regional Geographic Information Systems Cooperative, or ESRGC.

The security-related GIS program will allow a branch of Texas A&M University in Doha, Qatar to track real-time data about or impacting university personnel, said Katie Curtin, a spokesperson at SU.

Richard Treves is a Learning Developer at School of Geography at Southampton University UK. He's put together a self-paced course to teach educators how to use Google Earth as an education tool. It's called Google Earth for Teachers and he describes it as a mini-MOOC. It's free but you need a Moodle login/pw for access.
