Geographer Promoted to Asst Dean of Online Learning and other Education GIS News

Marc Armstrong, professor in the Department of Geographical and Sustainability Sciences and the chair of the Department of Cinema and Comparative Literature, has been appointed associate dean for Graduate and Online Education in the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), effective Jan. 15, 2014.

Barry Drazkowski has been the director of Saint Mary's University's Geospatial Services since the office opened in 1998. Barry has grown the office into a national leader in providing digital mapping services, with clients that include BP and the National Park Service. 

Saint Mary's has about 6000 undergrand and grad students and is in Winona, MN.

Live in New York State and need agriculture related GPS training?

The classes will meet from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Jan. 7, 9, 14 and 16 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension offices in Warsaw and Canandaigua.

A hands-on class activity will be conducted Jan. 18 at Monroe Tractor in Batavia.

The program will offer basic lessons on how GPS works in conjunction with on-farm procedures such as auto-steer, section control, and variable speed application. A $100 fee will be charged.
