Google’s New Location-based Alarm Patent

Location-based mobile device alarm, 8,195,203 described how different data is provided to a user upon an alarm. At home, one might get "home" type data. On the road, one might get "on the road" type data. The patent granted June 5 and applied for in Sept 2011, is not that revolutionary in that profiles for different apps launchng  based on location have been around for some time.

The tech press is of course concerned about privacy. To me this is just a special case of geofencing, something that I'm not sure if worthy of a patent.
