The Department of Human Settlements and Spatial Planning [Indonesia] will be leveraging GIS to improve data integration and management for the sustainable development of human settlements in the country.
The system enables users to create and embed maps with charts and other documents; visualise spatial data to show the original landforms and its spatial features; import and manage spatial data in various kinds of data formats; and customise the available GIS applications and tools.
Texas communities now have a new resource to help attract business and development opportunities to the Lone Star State. The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX), and the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), in partnership with Decision Data Resources, has developed SitesOnTexas 2.0, a web-based geographic information system (GIS) software which allows users to create data-oriented reports and maps, which support economic decisions and help monitor regional progress.
Emily Bhargava and Luisa Beck, along with the Somerville Arts Council, are organizing a scavenger hunt that takes place during the month of May. Its aim is to create a map that catalogues the city's public art.
The idea started because "both of us wanted this map," said Bhargava.
Somerville is filled with murals, statues, monuments, mosaics, stained glass and other works of art, some of them in well-traveled locations, some of them tucked away.
They're asking people to find a piece of artwork, take a photo of it, write down the address, and enter the information on an online map of the city.
The event kicks off with a right of spring here in my city: Somerville Open Studios this weekend. Prizes go to those who document the most public art and/or have the best photos. You can't see the map at this point without registering, so I'm not sure of the tech.
