LightSquared CEO Sanjiv Ahuja described how the company will offer "the dumbest broadband wireless pipe," during a keynote address at the Open Mobile Summit in San Francisco on Wednesday. The "dumb pipe" has no intelliegence and is will be sold by carriers and device makers who package and enhance the connectivity. It will be a utility, he said, and partners can use it without connection to LightSquared or with the company. Some partners are already involved in development using a "sandbox" in California. This is not how US carriers have offered their connectivity in the past.
As for GPS interference issues, the CEO reiterated how a hardware fix the way forward.
I'm thinking it was a good move to focus on the company's business model and not on its current political issues.

He also noted LS will solve a coming wireless spectrum and capacity shortage. That would certainly keep his company's dumb pipe full!
