MapInfo reported today that it had acquired
Thomopson Associates for "approximately $13 million in cash, subject to
a working capital adjustment, plus contingent consideration not to exceed
$6 million" according to the press release.Long known as one of the top
providers of retail site selection consulting, Thompson will augment MapInfo's
newly established aCRM division.The acquisition will also include the
AnySite
Software Division in which Thompson had invested in 2000.See

In annoucing the acquisition, Mark Cattini said, "Building MapInfo's analytical
customer relationship business is a key component of our strategy for long-term
growth.By acquiring Thompson Associates we will achieve critical mass
in location-based analytical services in the United States and add extensive
domain expertise in location analysis for the retail sector."
