Landcare Research Information Service API: The service provides a map-based interface to access data about environmental conditions in New Zealand. The provider maintains a repository of scientific datasets reporting measures of water and air quality, pollution, biosphere health, and other environmental conditions, and the service employs the Koordinates format to make the data available in a machine-processable interface with geolocation and mapping coordinates. It supports direct queries to retrieve data directly along with mapping and spatial analyses via geographic information systems (GIS).
API methods support Web Feature Service (OGC WFS) protocols to create vector layers for import into GIS and other mapping applications. Methods also integrate with other New Zealand mapping functions providing topographic data, forestation and land-cover data, and other conditions.
CS50 API: CS50 is an introductory programming course offered through Harvard University. Instructor David Malan has made avaialable a set of APIs for use with the class. These APIs include the following:
HarvardEnergy – utility information for campus buildings
HarvardCourses – course information
HarvardEvents – campus related events information
HarvardFood – menus, nutritional facts, portions, and recipe
HarvardMaps – campus mapping information
HarvardNews – news items
HarvardTweets – student tweet information
Shuttleboy – campus shuttle information
The API use RESTful calls and responses are formatted in XML, JSON, JSONP, CSV and PHP.
Pleiades API: Pleiades is a community-built geographical dictionary and map of ancient places. An outgrowth of the Classical Atlas Project and the Barrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World, it associates names and locations in time and provides structured information about these entities. Pleiades also serves as a vocabulary for talking about the geography of the ancient world within Linked Data sets.
Pleiades provides a RESTful API that enables users to retrieve lists of places, locations, and names as well as data about individual ancient places.
SetGetGo IP Geolocation API: The Geolocate an IP API provides users with a simple GET call to retrieve the International Organization for Standardization country code for a given IP address. Geolocate an IP is a RESTful API built upon the Get/Set API specification. Results are returned in JSON or JSONP format.
EPA Environmental Dataset Gateway API: The service provides access to a number of datasets containing recorded levels of environmental variables measured and tracked by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. A number of datasets document various monitoring programs over time tracking pollutants and environmental conditions affecting air quality, water quality, and land-borne contaminants. EPA staff and contractors can access both current and historical data via the service, built as an instance of ESRI Geoportal Server.
Eaupen API: Eaupen provides an extensive map of places in Paris with free, publicly accessible drinking water. Such places include drinking fountains as well as restaurants, cafes, and shops. The Eaupen API lets users retrieve the closest free drinking water location based on their latitude and longitude. The Eaupen website in provided in French, but the API documentation is given in English.
ServiceObjects DOTS NCOA Live API: The service provides access to a database of over 50 million permanent change-of-address (COA) requests registered with the U.S. Postal Service. It processes raw output from the USPS NCOALink service, updated weekly, and makes it available for comparison with current address records. Where a mailing list contains an old address, the service can provide updated mailing information allowing direct mail and other communications to follow past contacts to their new locations.
API methods support submission of at least 100 address records for comparison against old addresses listed in USPS COA requests. Where a match is found, the API returns a validated new address for the recipient to be updated in the calling application's records. Methods also allow reporting on the number of addresses updated and their validation status.
