While New York City decided to open its data, with all dataset to be available for download by 2018. While many datasets are already available, one dataset was missing: parcels. Yesterday, that changed as the Department of City Planning made MapPLUTO avilable for free.
Until yesterday, City Planning argued the data need not be shared as it was a fusion of data from many departments. In fact, until now parcel data was available at $300 per borough. But the open data folks won the day, as is becoming more common all the time!
