Saucony Offers Free App to Track Miles and Donate to Charity

Saucony, the running shoe and apparel company, based outside of Boston is supporting its Run for Good Foundation with a free iPhone app. Runners to earn donations for each mile that they run, with the proceeds benefiting youth running programs. The now six year old foundation will total up runners' miles each month and double its $5,000 donation to that month’s featured group, so long as the goal of 10,000 miles is met.

The first charities to benefit include: The American Diabetes Association’s New England division will be the beneficiary in September, followed by Houston’s Eric Thomas Foundation, Mount Desert Island YMCA in Bar Harbor, Maine, Austin-based Marathon High and the United Way of Northeastern Florida in Jacksonville. Nominations for others are in the works.
Just a note to Saucony: I ony heard of this because I cover the the geospaitlal/mapping industry. I have not heard about it through the running community. I'll ask around at the Lake Winnepasaukee Relay this weekend to see if my clubmates have.
