Video: Stanford Technology Helps Scholars Get ‘Big Picture’ of the Enlightenment

Stanford University professors have mapped thousands of letters that were exchanged during the period of the Enlightenment. The goal? To uncover hidden truths about writers and philosophers and clergymen and other intellectuals who corresponded across Europe and the world during that time. Principal investigator Dan Edelstein introduces the Republic of Letters project in this short video illustrating how GIS can help illuminate the humanities.
