Update: Vizzuality Receives Grant for Open Source Map Story Telling Tool

Among my, and other people's top ten lists for 2013 were story maps. I guess we were correct, since the Knight Foundation decided to grant Vizzuality $35,000 to develop an open source tool to build such things. The money comes from a Knight effort called the Prototype Fund. Do have a look at the other 23 recipients many of which have a spatial or open data component. Here's how Knight describes Vizzuality's project:

Building an open source tool that allows journalists and other users to quickly turn data, maps and other content into interactive stories for online publication.

While aimed at journalists, others will certianly use and build on the tool. Early code is already available at the Odyssey.js GitHub page
