Voting Open for GISCI Mapping Contest People’s Choice Award

Last we heard from GISCI regarding its 3rd Annual Map Contest, submissions were extended until April 15 because of interest and increased difficulty of the task.

And, now the 2014 People's Choice Award voting is open. Non-people's choice awards have already been determined. Recall:

This year's competition required an entrant to produce a high quality map of a portion of the U.S. National Bridge Inventory (NBI). This required parsing, geocoding  ASCII files in which the NBI is stored, as well as producing of a quality map which could be viewed on the web.

Prizes:

  • 1st $500, 2nd $250, 3rd $100, People’s Choice 1st  $500 and Honorable Mentions
  • Each winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and People’s Choice) will also have their initial certification fee waived if the application is submitted within one year of the date the winners are announced.  Current GISPs will have their renewal fees waived at their next recertification date
  • Map submittal earns / qualifies for 1 point under the Contribution to the Profession category

The good news is this year the voting does involve Facebook; anyone (even non-GISPs) can vote via e-mail. When does the voting end? The webpage does not say, but a tweet says at the end of Esri UC.
